J K Rowling has seen phenomenal success. She has earned stardom which was earlier known only to music stars. She has earned money as much as a business tycoon does in a lifetime. She has earned the respect of one and all. And she did all this by becoming our favorite author.
However, this has not been easy. You don’t reach such heights without your share of struggle. In her own words, she was “as poor as it is possible in modern Britain, without being homeless”. In fact, Rowling took to writing only to divert her mind from the daily hardships. It took Rowling five long years to complete the first book. As if that wasn’t enough, it was extremely difficult to find a publisher. She had to hear No from most publishers. Finally, in 1997, Bloomsbury published the first book and the rest, as they would say, is history.
She has been an inspiration for millions of people around the world. On her birthday, we bring you some of her pearls of wisdom:
“Some failure in life is inevitable. It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all—in which case, you fail by default.”

It is our choices… that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.

If you want to see the true measure of a man, watch how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.

Whether you come back by page or by the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.

I sometimes have a tendency to walk on the dark side.

Secretly we’re all a little more absurd than we make ourselves out to be.

I really don’t believe in magic.

“As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.”

”Luck can only get you so far.”

”Humans have a knack of choosing precisely those things that are worst for them.”

“It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.”
