From Code to Coastlines: Author Sunny’s Journey into The Silent Shore Trilogy

Few stories linger in the mind long after the last page is turned, The Silent Shore trilogy is one of them. Written by Indian author and IT professional Sunny, this haunting saga follows Evelyn Foster as she unravels the dark mysteries surrounding her sister’s disappearance in the eerie coastal town of Ravenswatch. Blending psychological suspense with emotional depth, Sunny delivers a masterful tale of loss, resilience, and truth.

Known for seamlessly merging technology and storytelling, Sunny has also penned Silicon Threads: Unravelling the AI Enigma, a compelling exploration of artificial intelligence and its impact on humanity. Today, we sit down with Sunny to talk about the creation of The Silent Shore, his writing process, and what readers can expect next from him.

1. What made you write the story of Evelyn Harper and her quest for her sister? Is there any real-life semblance in this story?

Sunny:
Evelyn Harper’s story was born out of my fascination with how far people will go for family and truth. While the story itself is fictional, the emotional, longing, and resilience comes from real experiences of watching people fight for those they love. I wanted to create a character whose strength is tested by secrets buried deep beneath the surface, but whose humanity always shines through.

“That’s beautifully said and I am sure readers can feel that authenticity in every chapter.”

2. How did you come up with Ravenswatch, the fictional town of your trilogy?

Sunny:
Ravenswatch is a blend of places I’ve visited and imagined. I wanted it to feel timeless remote enough to hide secrets but alive enough to draw readers into its streets, cliffs, and shorelines. It’s almost like a character itself: mysterious, atmospheric, and quietly menacing, holding pieces of Evelyn’s story within its shadows.

“This setting has become a defining part of the series’ identity”

3. What type of books do you read, and is there a genre that you are inclined towards more than others?

Sunny:
I read widely mysteries, thrillers, literary fiction, even non-fiction but I’m most drawn to psychological suspense. I love stories that blur the line between truth and illusion, where characters are forced to confront both external danger and their own inner battles.

“That explains so much about your writing style!”

4. How long have you been writing? Do you feel that your writing has evolved since the time of your first book?

Sunny:
I’ve been writing seriously for several years, but storytelling has always been a part of me. Looking back at my first book compared to The Silent Shore trilogy, I can definitely see how my writing has matured. My pacing is sharper, my characters more layered, and my ability to weave suspense with emotion has grown with each project.

“It’s inspiring to hear how you’ve evolved as a writer.”

5. Did you have a target audience in mind while writing these books? What is your vision for this book in terms of its audience?

Sunny:
I wrote these books for readers who love unraveling secrets and being kept on the edge of uncertainty. My vision was to create a story that would appeal to fans of mystery-thrillers but also resonate with anyone who enjoys an emotional, character-driven journey.

“It makes The series both thrilling and deeply relatable”

6. You have written both standalones as well as series now. What was the difference between those two from a writer’s perspective?

Sunny:
Writing a standalone is like running a sprint you pour everything into a single arc. A series, on the other hand, is more like a marathon. You have to sustain tension, develop characters in layers, and plant seeds that will bloom across multiple books. Both are rewarding, but series writing requires more patience and careful orchestration.

“That’s such an insightful analogy!”

7. How did you tackle the complications of writing a story of this length and keeping it coherent throughout, especially since you released all three together?

Sunny:
It was definitely a challenge! I worked with detailed outlines, character maps, and timeline charts to make sure every thread connected across the trilogy. Releasing all three together was deliberate I wanted readers to immerse themselves without the long waits, to experience the twists as one continuous journey.

“Releasing the trilogy together was a bold move and it paid off! It allowed readers to experience the story in one breath, which is rare and rewarding”

8. What writing process do you follow while outlining your story? Do you have any tips for our readers?

Sunny:
I usually begin with the ending I need to know where the story is headed before I can map the journey. From there, I sketch out broad plot points, then layer in character motivations and emotional beats. My tip for aspiring writers: don’t fear revising your outline mid-way. Stories evolve, and flexibility is as important as planning.

“That’s fantastic advice.”

9. How has the publishing journey been for you so far?

Sunny:
It’s been both humbling and exhilarating. There are highs seeing your book in readers’ hands and lows, like navigating the learning curve of publishing logistics. But overall, it’s been a journey of growth, resilience, and gratitude.

“It’s refreshing to hear such honesty about the publishing process. Your transparency will surely resonate with aspiring authors who are navigating similar paths”

10. What can our readers expect next from you? Will you be exploring other genres or polish those you have already ventured into?

Sunny:
I’m working on a new standalone mystery-thriller that takes a darker, more psychological turn. I want to keep exploring suspense, but I also enjoy experimenting with how memory, identity, and secrets shape human choices. So, while I’ll continue polishing my current genre, readers can expect some surprises along the way.

“We can’t wait to see how you expand your creative horizons. Thank you for answering all our questions.”
