- What inspired you to write a book about friendship rather than focusing solely on the
struggles of medical students?
Two years back, we’d our batch reunion in the canteen of Gauhati Medical College. Meeting each other after so many years we realized we didn’t change much even though our faces changed in the wheel of time. After attending that event, I walked down the hilly street from the college to reach the hostel where I lived almost six years of my prime time. I visited my room, met the young boys who were now residing in my room( once it was my room). When I left the hostel, many a memory rushed to my mind. Perhaps that was the moment when something in my heart ignited me to write a book on friendship, about my hostel, and about my college.
- How much of your own experience at Gauhati Medical College influenced the
storytelling?
I think it’s 100%
- This book captures the fun side of student life. Were there any real-life hostel
experiences that made their way into the story?
Yes, there are a few incidents.
- How did you develop the fictional characters—did you base them on people you knew,
or were they entirely from imagination?
A few characters are real. But most of the incidents related to them are from imagination.
51. Friendship is a central theme in the book. In your opinion, what makes friendships during
college years so special?
Friendship gives us another world away from home where we can live to our full potential. College days, especially the hostel days, was perhaps a special period where we met boys with different characters and different ideologies. It’s friendship that holds our hand in our difficult times and brings us back to normal path if we unknowingly deviate from it. But that should be real friendship.

- Looking back, what is one unforgettable memory from your time at Gauhati Medical
College?
The first day in the first year gallery of Gauhati Medical College.
- Many students struggle with stress in college—do you think humor and camaraderie
help in overcoming academic pressure?
Yes definitely.
8. What do you hope readers take away from this book?
My hope for the readers is that it’s a novel on students’ life, so it’s a simple novel where one can feel the madness, sentiments, love and hate of young persons.
- Do you plan to write more books in the future? If so, would they be similar in theme, or
do you want to explore different genres?
Yes, another novel is near completion, but it’s in a different genre.
10. How has the response been from readers, especially from those in the medical field?
The response is good. Some say, after reading the novel, they can feel their young days too though they studied differently.
