“The Unanswered”: A Heartfelt Tale of Friendship, Growth, and Finding Yourself || Saloni Jain

Q1: What inspired you to write The Unanswered?

What majorly inspired me in writing this book is the way we rush through life, chasing after something we’re not even sure about. We find ourselves caught in a web of unanswered questions—What is life? What is happiness? Am I on the right path? Am I doing the right thing? Through The Unanswered, I’ve attempted to address some of these fundamental questions that often go unexplored.

Q2: What makes The Unanswered stand out from other books in the personal growth genre?

The Unanswered is a unique blend of fiction and self-help. It merges the most engaging aspects of storytelling with practical lessons, offering readers an immersive narrative experience while also providing actionable advice for personal growth. Unlike traditional self-help books, this one keeps readers captivated through its compelling storyline.

Q3: Given the complex publishing process in India, what was your experience?

The publishing process has been quite positive overall. While there were a few minor challenges regarding timelines, the journey was smooth and well-coordinated for the most part.

Q4: If your book was adapted into a movie, what would be your dream casting?

For Bollywood:

  • Sharal (the wise and grounded one): Vicky Kaushal – He can portray calmness and wisdom effortlessly, making him perfect for the role of Sharal.
  • Shan (the seeker looking for answers): Siddhant Chaturvedi – His youthful energy and emotional depth make him ideal for the role of someone on a journey of self-discovery.

For Hollywood:

  • Sharal: Oscar Isaac – Known for his gravitas and ability to play layered, insightful characters, he would bring depth and nuance to Sharal’s wisdom.
  • Shan: Timothée Chalamet – With his raw vulnerability and intensity, he is perfect for capturing Shan’s quest for answers.

Q5: Did you face any challenges while writing a book that intertwines fiction with personal growth advice?

Yes, the main challenge was ensuring that the story kept readers engaged from beginning to end, while also effectively incorporating life lessons and advice. Striking a balance between storytelling and imparting wisdom required thoughtful execution.

Q6: How does the book address the complexities of pursuing happiness and success in the modern world?

The book explains happiness and success by telling simple, relatable stories. For example, it features two friends—one who is happy and one who is struggling. It shows what happiness means for each of them and helps readers think about what makes them happy. Each chapter also gives easy steps and activities that readers can try to bring these lessons into their own lives.

Q7: What other books or authors inspired you when writing The Unanswered?

Books like The Alchemist and The Ultimate Gift have been great sources of inspiration. Their profound insights and engaging narratives greatly influenced my writing process.

Q8: What message do you hope readers take away from the themes of happiness, success, and mental well-being in the book?

I want readers to see life as a game of truth and dare. Always be truthful to yourself, even when it’s difficult, and embrace the challenges that life throws at you with courage. It’s okay to take small steps toward understanding yourself—truth and resilience will guide you to where you’re meant to be.
